Ferenc Salmayer

Ferenc Istvan Salmayer (born October 31, 1946 in Budapest , Hungary ) is a German dancer , choreographer and artistic director of the German TV Ballet of the MDR.

Life

Salmayer grew up in Hungary's capital, where he received classical dance training before taking up his first engagement at the National Theater in Szeged (Hungary). In 1968 he was appointed to the miners' theater in Senftenberg ( GDR ), where he danced for a year.

From 1968 to 1971 Ferenc Salmayer was a dancer in the famous ballet of the Friedrichstadtpalast Berlin . From there he was accepted into the ensemble of the television ballet of GDR television , where he danced as a soloist until 1985. After his active career as a dancer he became a choreographer alongside Emöke Pöstenyi . Alongside her, he led the dance company through the uncertain times of the fall of 1989. Together with her, Salmayer shaped the profile of today's television ballet.

In 2002 he became Pöstenyi's successor as artistic director and chief choreographer of the Dt. TV ballet of the MDR. Choreographies were created for all major German entertainment shows on ARD , ZDF and MDR (including melodies for millions , folk music festivals , José Carreras Gala , Krone der Volksmusik and Musikantenstadl ). Over the years he has worked with many prominent artists - such as Caterina Valente , Wencke Myhre , Dagmar Frederic , Florian Silbereisen and Marlène Charell . In addition to the entertainment show, he also designed choreographies for the MDR dance film series Tanz auf dem Vulkan and the ARD crime scene at the scene of murder . In 2008 and 2009 he organized the artistic process of the television ballet tours World of Dance and Tanzpalast . He has two sons and is married to the former dancer Martina Salmayer, who is also his assistant.
