Fernão Ferro is a Portuguese municipality ( Freguesia ) with 17,059 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). It belongs to the city of Seixal and is thus on the southern bank of the mouth of the Tejo ( Margem Sul do Tejo ) opposite Lisbon . The community area is 24.1 km².

history

The parish was created on May 27, 1993 by merging areas that previously belonged to the parishes of Aldeia de Paio Pires , Amora and Arrentela .
