Corroios is a small town in Portugal . It is located on the Margem Sul do Tejo , the southern bank of the Tejo estuary opposite Lisbon .
history
Nuno Álvares Pereira received the area in 1385 and left here in 1403 a . a. build a tide mill. Fishermen had already settled here. In the 14th century Corroios became a separate municipality. After the Liberal Revolution of 1822 and the subsequent Miguelistenkrieg , the district of Seixal was created in 1836 and Corroios was incorporated into the municipality of Amora . It was not until 1976 that it became a separate municipality again. In 1993 Corroios was elevated to a small town (Vila).
Culture and sights
Worth seeing is the Moinho de Maré de Corroios , built in 1403 , a tide mill that was badly damaged during the Lisbon earthquake in 1755 but rebuilt in 1980.
With the Quinta do Rouxinol , the excavation of a Roman pottery kiln can be seen.
Major parts of the former Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços explosives factory are now part of the Seixal Ecomuseum and can be visited.
Since 1996, the Festival de Música Moderna de Corroios has been a competition and festival for young rock bands every year.

Corroios is the seat of a municipality of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Seixal , in the Setúbal district . The community has 47,661 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011) and covers an area of 17.1 km².

Corroios has its own train station on the Linha do Sul railway line . The local trains of the Fertagus also stop here. It is also the starting point of the two tram lines of the Sul do Tejo Metro .
The place is located on the national road N10, which has been expanded into a multi-lane expressway here, which runs parallel to the A2 motorway, the closest entrance to which is Almada .
