Fernando Aramburu
Fernando Aramburu (* 1959 in San Sebastián ) is a Spanish writer , poet and translator.
Life
The author studied Spanish philology in Saragossa , has lived in Hanover since 1984 and initially worked as a Spanish teacher. Since 2009 he has only written books and articles for Spanish newspapers. He is married and has two daughters.
For his novel Ávidas pretensiones , Aramburu received the Premio Biblioteca Breve in 2014 . He attracted a lot of attention with his novel Patria (2016), which was awarded the “Premio nacional de narrativa”, the “Premio de la crítica” and the “ Premio Strega Europeo ”. The novel sold more than 800,000 times in Spain (as of early 2019) and has been translated into around twenty languages. The story takes place in the Basque Country and deals with the terror of the ETA ( Euskadi Ta Askatasuna ) and the reconciliation of perpetrators and victims. The novel is being filmed as a series by HBO España.
