Fernando González Gortázar (born October 19, 1942 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican architect and sculptor .

biography

In 1946 his family went to Guadalajara , where he also studied architecture at the School of Architecture at the Technological Institute of the Universidad de Guadalajara from 1959 and received his diploma in 1966. During his studies, he attended the sculptor workshop of Olivier Seguin at the school for plastic art of the university from 1962 and in 1965 co-founded the magazine "Cóatl" ( Nahuatl : snake ) published by Ernesto Flores , where he spent a year for a series on plastic Art was responsible. Afterwards he was a teacher for design theory at the school for architecture of the university as well as for visual education atInstituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO). This was followed by a study visit to Paris , during which he continued his education in the field of aesthetics and art sociology.

González works in Mexico and Spain, among other things as a writer and set designer. In 1997 he was elected a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (SNCA) and has been a member of the Academia de Artes since 2000 .
