The TAC peak (named after the T echniker- A lpen- C lub) is a 2019  m above sea level. A. high summit in the southwest of the Hochschwab massif in Styria.

Location and characterization of the mountain

The TAC peak belongs to the elongated, rugged rock ridge of the Griesmauer , the highest point of which is the Eisenerzer Griesmauer (sometimes also called the Griesmauerkogel , 2034  m above sea level ) about 800 meters further north-northeast. The slightly lower Vordernberger Griesmauer ( 2015  m above sea level ) stands about 250 meters south of the TAC peak . Between these two peaks there is a plateau with scree fields; the top of the TAC towers over it with steep rocky slopes.

rise

From the Hirscheggsattel 1699  m above sea level. A. in the southwest there is a marked ascent to the top of the TAC. In the lower part it runs over a lot of scree near the popular climbing route of the Fledermausgrat to the Vordernberger Griesmauer. A short, insured via ferrata of difficulty level A / B, also called Hubert-Wieser-Steig , leads through the rocky summit structure .

The Hirscheggsattel can be reached from Präbichl via the Leobner Hütte in about 1½ hours, from there another 1 hour up to the TAC peak.
