Santa Catalina (around 1510).

Fernando Yáñez de la Almedina (* around 1480 in Almedina , Ciudad Real , † around 1537 in Valencia ) was a Spanish painter during the Renaissance .

Life

Almedina worked with Fernando de los Llanos and created twelve paintings with him about the life of the “Holy Virgin” for the cathedral in Valencia (1506–1509). From the style of the two it can be concluded that one of them was the "Fernando spagnuolo", who was mentioned in 1505 as an assistant to Leonardo da Vinci in Florence . Almedina was highly regarded in Spain and was last mentioned in a document in 1526; at that time he was working in Cuenca . A student of Almedina or Llanos may have been the master of Alcira, previously known only by his emergency name .
