The telecommunications tower Riegelstein is a 135 meter high telecommunications tower of the German radio tower . It is located on the summit plateau of the Hohen Reut between the two Betzenstein districts of Spies and Riegelstein in Franconian Switzerland , a little west of the federal motorway 9 . Structurally, it is a type tower of type FMT 2. Hiking trails that start in Spies and Riegelstein lead to the summit plateau of the Hohen Reut. From the western outskirts of the Schermshöhe , a narrow access road branches off from the BT 30 , which leads up to the area of the telecommunications tower.
In addition to the non-public directional radio and mobile radio, the Riegelstein telecommunications tower served for a long time as a filler transmitter for analog television in order to illuminate the difficult-to-supply area. With the switch to DVB-T, the analog television programs were switched off without replacement.
