The Saint Petersburg TV tower is a 326 meter high lattice steel tower in Saint Petersburg that serves as a transmission tower for VHF and TV stations.
It was built in 1962, its construction is reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower , but in contrast to this it was executed as a welded construction. The Saint Petersburg television tower was originally 316 meters high. In 1985 it was shortened to 310 meters in connection with the renewal of the television transmitting antenna at its top. In June 2011 a new antenna was installed for DVB-T2 , among other things , which increased the height of the tower to 326 meters. Since its construction, the television tower has been by far the tallest structure in Saint Petersburg until it was surpassed by the Lakhta Center in May 2017 .
