Ferry Wilhelm Gebauer
Ferdinand "Ferry" Wilhelm Gebauer (born May 28, 1901 near Vienna , † October 4, 1981 in Vienna) was a composer and music publisher .
Life
Gebauer was trained as a musician by his parents , at the Vienna Adult Education Center in harmony and by Carl Michael Ziehrer , then in Berlin by Jean Nadolowitsch (1875–1966) and Rosa Papier (1859–1932) as an opera singer . He composed over 2000 works, including around 1000 marches, numerous Viennese songs and was therefore also called the "March King". He was also the owner of his own music publisher. From around 1940 he lived for decades in Vienna 2. , Kleine Stadtgutgasse 12, Hoftrakt, not far from the Praterstern and the Wiener Prater .
He was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery in an honorary grave (group 40, grave 145) dedicated by the City of Vienna . His much younger wife Gertrude, b. 1923, was buried in the same grave in 1993.
