Fetish was a South African rock band from Cape Town .

history

The band was founded in 1997 by Michelle Breeze, Dominic Forrest, Jeremy Daniel, Ross Campbell and David Fiene in Cape Town ( South Africa ). In 1998 Fetish released their first self-financed album named after the band in South Africa and Europe . The single Never Enough made it into the top 10 of the South African radio station 5fm straight away . After initial successes, Fetish switched to Virgin (EMI) and released the EP Shade Of A Ghost . Among other things, they appear as support on the South Africa tours of the bands Goo Goo Dolls , Lenny Kravitz and The Cult .

In 1999 the album So Many Prophets was released, from which the song Permanent made it into the Top 10 and So Many Prophets even made it to number one in the 5fm charts. In 2000, Fetish performed on the Skunk Anansie and Smashing Pumpkins tour in Johannesburg .

In 2001 Michelle Breeze and Dominic Forrest moved to London , where they continued the band with a new line-up (Roy Pfeffer (drums), Dino Sofos (keyboard) and Omer Marantz (bass)). In fact, this means the end of the Fetish project, although they never officially broke up. In England there are still gigs in the renowned clubs Cargo, Ocean and Shepard's Bush and Fetish are invited to play four songs on BBC World Radio , but the band members are dedicating themselves to more and more solo projects (Michelle Breeze, for example, the Pretty Ugly project) . Between 2005 and 2006 Fetish are working on their last album, Remains , which has only been released in South Africa so far.
