List of rose varieties

The rose variety 'Feuerfunken' is a bright orange-red to scarlet-red flowering shrub rose that was bred by Anni Berger and launched on the market in 1979 by the horticultural production cooperative Roter Oktober Bad Langensalza (Thuringia) . It comes from the orange blooming floribunda rose 'Highlight' (Herbert Robinson 1957).

education

The broadly spreading rose 'Feuerfunken' forms a strong, well-branched shrub. The rose plant is about 120 cm to a maximum of 200 cm high and 120 to 180 cm wide. The rose variety 'Feuerfunken' has large, elongated, egg-shaped, glossy dark green leaves. Usually 5 to 8, rarely up to 15 flowers are arranged in small clusters on a stem axis . The highly open egg-shaped flower bud later opens into a tightly filled, bowl-shaped flower. The double flowers, up to 9 centimeters in size, are formed from 30 petals . The hybrid tea-shaped flowers are made up of orange-red to vermilion petals with scarlet undersides. The 'Feuerfunken' rose variety is characterized by a barely perceptible, mild scent.

This remounting shrub rose is hardy ( USDA climate zones 6b to 9b). The 'Feuerfunken' variety blooms continuously from June to October and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases , especially powdery mildew and star soot .

The rose variety 'Feuerfunken' thrives on loamy - humus soil in sunny to partially shaded locations. It is suitable for planting beds in groups and for pre-planting in front of shrubs and for covering walls and garden fences.

The rose cultivar 'sparks' is in many Rosarien and gardens, including the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen , in Carla Fineschi Foundation Rose Garden (Tuscany) and in the Rose Garden Dresden shown.

The rose variety 'Feuerfunken' was awarded a gold medal at the International Garden Exhibition in Erfurt in 1981.

Naming

The name 'Feuerfunken' goes back to the children's story The White Star by Viktoria Ruika-Franz , which was widespread in the GDR .
