Fichtelberglauf
The Fichtelberglauf is a 9.1 kilometer mountain run that has been held annually in Sehmatal since 1987 . The record of 300 participants dates back to 2015. In view of its constantly increasing altitude profile, the run is popular with professional and amateur athletes alike. The previous winners include the (former) professional cross-country skiers Viola Bauer , Julia Belger , Petra Nováková or Lukáš Bauer , Benjamin Seifert and Valentin Mättig . The men's course record dates back to 2014 and was set by Lukáš Bauer from Bozi Dar , the overall cross-country skiing world cup winner, with a time of 35:27 minutes . In 2015, Petra Nováková set a new record for women. The Czech World Cup cross-country skier needed 40:53 minutes.
route
The route runs from the Spindelfabrik Neudorf (Karlsbader Straße 266) in 09465 Sehmatal-Neudorf (altitude 714 meters above sea level) and ends after 9.1 kilometers on the Fichtelberg (1215 meters above sea level), the highest mountain in Saxony. The original route leads through the Fichtelberg area via Gelber Weg - Flößzechenweg - Bärenfangweg - Rotes Vorwerk - Waterway - Fremdsteig.
history
Andreas Roscher from Neudorf is considered to be the forefather of the Fichtelberglauf. On October 24, 1987, he set up a run from Neudorf to the Fichtelberglauf for the first time over 6.7 kilometers. 76 men and 4 women took part in the premiere. In 1996, 2015 and 2018 the run was advertised as an open state championship.
