Fidel Peugeot

Fidel Peugeot (* 1969 in Basel , Switzerland ), actually Sebastian Rudolf Baumgartner , is a Swiss graphic and type designer .

Life

Fidel Peugeot studied communication design at the Basel School of Design a . a. with Armin Hofmann , Wolfgang Weingart and René Pulver . During his studies, he worked for renowned agencies such as GGK, WeberHodelSchmid and Stalder & Suter. Fidel Peugeot also toured as a musician with various bands. Together with Karl Rottweiler, he founded the Swiss label Radio Glaibasel (RGB107.6) in the 1980s .

In 1991 Fidel Peugeot came to Vienna via New York and Paris. Here he developed the first digitized manuscripts , the Lomofonts, and thus pioneered various other pixel fonts. He made font designs such as Spruce and Line for Tyler Brûlé and the Wallpaper Group. Fidel Peugeot has been a Linotype font designer since 2002 .

Peugeot works in all areas of graphic design: as an illustrator and logo designer, for example for the Albertina in Vienna.

In 1999 Fidel Peugeot met the product designer Karl Emilio Pircher . Together they founded the Walking Chair Design Studio in Vienna in 2003 . Among other things , Peugeot and his design partner Karl Emilio Pircher created walk-in light rooms and cloakroom systems from PET bottles . Fidel Peugeot's designs combine art and everyday objects.

Peugeot took part in the Aarhus Festival in May 2009 with its furniture design work.

In 2009 Peugeot was also responsible for the city of Linz , this year's European Capital of Culture , as part of the Linz Capital of Culture project for the design and planning of Kinderpunkt 09 , a feel-good place for children and families to relax.
