Fields is a place (Status: Populated Place) in Harney County in the state of Oregon in the United States .
The place is 180 km south of Burns . It is the center of trade for the local ranches and the largest parish between Denio , Nevada , 22 miles to the south and Frenchglen , Oregon, 52 miles to the north.
history
In 1881 Charles Fields established his family residence where the village of Fields is today. In 1900 a school was opened with a teacher.
Today the Fields community consists of a bar, a shop, a café, a gas station, a school, a campsite and a few houses. From 2003 the school has two rooms and two teachers who look after the students from kindergarten to eighth grade.

Tourists, hunters and fishermen often stop in Fields. Local wildlife include pronghorn , mule deer , elk , bighorn sheep , pheasants , pigeons , geese and ducks . Rainbow trout can be found in nearby streams. There are also public hot springs in the area, including Alvord Hot Springs , Bog Hot Springs, and White Horse Hot Springs . Many photographers are interested in Steens Mountain , which is 60 miles to the north.
