Career

Fiete Sykora started playing football in his hometown at TSG Wismar . His father Klaus-Dieter Sykora had already played in the GDR league at this club . In 2000 he moved to the A youth team at Hansa Rostock . From the 2001/02 season he was part of the squad of the second team. He played with Hansa Rostock II for four years in the NOFV-Oberliga Nord and was champion of the NOFV-Oberliga Nord in the 2004/05 season. For the 2005/06 season he moved to the then regional division FC Carl Zeiss Jena . With Jena in 2006 he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga , in which he was involved with nine goals in 27 missions. In the 2007/08 season he played for the second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue , with whom he had signed a two-year contract. With the relegation of FC Erzgebirge Aue to the newly founded third division, Sykora signed a one-year contract plus option with VfL Osnabrück , where his teammates Tom Geißler and René Trehkopf had already moved . There he was on the field 28 times, but only played nine times over 90 minutes and scored four goals.

For the 2009/10 season, Sykora changes to the third division promoted Holstein Kiel , where he initially signed a two-year contract until 2011. He later got a contract until 2015.

On May 17, 2015, ETSV Weiche Flensburg (since July 2017 SC Weiche Flensburg 08 ) announced that Sykora, after more than 150 games for Holstein Kiel, would switch to the regional league for one year with an option to another season. He ended his active career in Flensburg in summer 2018.

Fiete Sykora is the nephew of the former GDR Oberliga player and GDR youth national player Peter Sykora .
