Filago aegaea is a plant from the genus of Filzkräuter ( filago ) in the family of Compositae (Asteraceae).

features

Filago aegaea is an annual stem therophyte that reaches heights of 1 to 6 centimeters. The bracts are coarse. The middle bracts are felty up to the edge and at the fruiting time inwardly curved inwards.

The flowering period extends from March to June.

Occurrence

Filago aegaea occurs in the northeastern Mediterranean , in Greece, Crete, Cyprus and on islands in the Aegean Sea.

Systematics

Two subspecies are distinguished from Filago aegaea :

  • Filago aegaea subsp. aegaea : The main stem is almost or completely missing, so that the middle head sits. The leaves are spatulate to almost circular. The bracts are either pointed or have a tiny awn with a length of 0.5 millimeters. The subspecies occurs in the Cardagean Sea, Greece, Crete and on islands in the Aegean Sea. It grows in Phrygana near the coast on clay, sand and rubble.
  • Filago aegaea subsp. aristata Wagenitz : Usually there is a clear main stem. The leaves are obovate to spatulate. The bracts run out into an awn, which is clearly recognizable and 0.5 to 1 millimeter long. The subspecies occurs in the northeastern Mediterranean region, in Greece, Crete, on islands in the Aegean Sea and in Cyprus. It grows on clay and sand in Phrygana.
