The Roman Catholic branch church Latschach stands in a forest clearing above Latschach / Loč in the municipality of Hermagor . The church is dedicated to St. Leonhard and belongs to the Mellweg parish .

Building description

The small late Gothic church consists of a three-bay nave and a single-bay choir with a three-eighth end. The north-facing tower with arched acoustic windows is crowned by a pointed gable helmet. Two two-stage buttresses support the eastern part of the south wall. The choir and nave have arched windows. A large pillar porch the width of a ship protects the wooden door from 1740 in the ogival, chamfered west portal. Next to it is a stone sacrificial table. The wall paintings to the left of the portal depict the Saints Maria Magdalena (?), Leonhard, Margareta and a Maria lactans under a canopy. The crucifixion group painted around 1440 on the right of the portal is poorly preserved.

There is a baroque wooden gallery in the vaulted nave. A retracted, pointed triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir, which is vaulted with a flat barrel with stitch caps . On the north side, a pointed arched door leads into the sacristy on the tower ground floor.

Facility

The high altar, built around 1640 with a triumphal arch-like structure over a base and a small aedicula as an attachment, carries the statue of St. Leonhard in the middle, flanked by St. Andrew and Laurentius , and a Mother of God with child in the top.

On the left side altar stands the figure of St. Ulrich and above the statuette of St. Stephen . The figures of the right side altar represent Saints Sebastian and Florian at the bottom and Saint Wolfgang at the top . The two side altars, like the pulpit, were created by Joseph Kapfer in 1772.
