The Roman Catholic branch church Mirnig is 1016 meters above sea level on the western slope of the Saualpe in the municipality of Eberstein . It is consecrated to St. Andrew and is a branch of the St. Walburgen parish . The church was first mentioned in a document in 1616.

Building description

The church is a late Gothic building, which is probably older in the nave. Two-tiered buttresses support the north side of the church. The three-storey south tower with wall slits and pointed arch sound windows is crowned by a pointed helmet. The open, western vestibule with a painted coffered ceiling is labeled "Georgius Strisitz 1589". One enters the church through a simple keel arched portal with a late Gothic, iron-studded door.

A flat wooden barrel arches over the nave . In the two-bay choir with a three-eighth closure, a ribbed vault rests on circular services . The heavily renewed, baroque ceiling picture in the nave represents the coronation of Mary . The ceiling paintings from the 17th century in the choir show angels with instruments of passion .

Facility

The high altar , a sacrificial passage altar from the beginning of the 18th century, has carved figures of St. Andrew and a Madonna .

The two side altars were made in the second half of the 17th century. The left side altar consists of an aedicule above a small base, side console figures under canopy arches, a split segment gable with a small aedicule as an attachment, as well as small volutes and a cartilage cartouche as a crown. The twisted column shafts are decorated with vine tendrils. The central figure of the Mother of God is the statue of Saint John the Baptist and Lawrence flanked. In addition to a small annunciation group, there are three other statuettes of saints in the top .

The right side altar consists of an aedicule above a base with side console figures under canopy arches and a curved pediment with angel figures on the pedestal. The altar bears a crucifix on the main floor and a figure of the Archangel Michael in the top .

The wooden west gallery has a parapet painted with Christ and the twelve apostles and, like the pulpit, was built in the 18th century. The painting of the Apostle Andrew on the north wall of the choir comes from an altar.
