Unterloibach branch church

The Unterloibach branch church in the Bleiburg community is consecrated to St. Andrew and belongs to the Roman Catholic parish Bleiburg . In the cemetery (churchyard) around the church is the grave of the writer Milka Hartman . A memorial with a grieving allegory of Croatia commemorates the extradition of hundreds of thousands of Croatian civilians, members of the regular Croatian army and some Ustaše soldiers by the British to Tito- Yugoslavia on May 14th and 15th, 1945.

Building description

The building dates from the second half of the 15th century with a western extension of the nave by three bays from 1890. The choir is supported by three-tiered buttresses . In the south, the Gothic church tower with a pyramid roof adjoins the choir. The sacristy was added to the choir in the north in the 19th century.

A six-bay ribbed vault on consoles from the end of the 19th century rests above the nave . A pointed, chamfered triumphal arch connects the nave with the two-bay choir with a three-eighth end, marked 1472 on the end wall of the choir. A late Gothic net rib vault rises above the choir on console services.
