Career

Da Costa began his career in the youth of Benfica Lisbon , which he left in 2001 on loan to FC Amora. In 2002 he came into the first team squad when he was under contract with Sporting Braga , but he was not used. The same fate reached him in Italy at AC Reggiana and US Tolentino. It was not until January 2005, when he played in the top Greek league for Ionikos Nikea , that he came to the first team. Nikea finished ninth in the Super League. After the places ten and twelve he left Ionikos and moved within the league on loan to AE Larisa . The club was tenth, and they were also the Greek cup winners.

For the beginning of the 2007/08 season he signed with the traditional English club Leeds United , where he made four appearances in the third-highest English division. In the summer of 2008 he moved to Romania for FC Timișoara , who deleted him from the squad again after the commitment, as da Costa injured himself. He then went to Bulgaria and played for CSKA Sofia that fall . In the spring he moved to local rivals Levski Sofia . The club became champions, the midfielder made eight appearances.

Then he returned home and signed with Nacional Funchal . After just two games and a yellow card, he was sold to GD Estoril Praia . In the summer of 2010 he returned to Madeira and was back in the Nacional squad. In 2012 he moved again to Greece and played in the following years mostly in the second Greek league, the Football League . He ended his career in 2017.
