Filippos Tsitos
Filippos Tsitos ; Greek Φιλίππος Τσίτος or Filippos Tsitos , initially also Philip Tsitos (* 1966 in Athens , Greece ), is a film and television director who works in Germany and Greece.
Career
Filippos Tsitos studied marketing and worked as a photographer and in promotion as well as for radio. In 1991 he moved to Berlin, where he studied directing at the German Film and Television Academy and began to direct his first self-written short films.
His emigrant play Parlez-moi d'amour (1994) won several awards in this context, including the German Short Film Prize in Gold . Tsitos' first feature film followed with My Sweet Home (2001), also based on his own script. The film starring Nadja Uhl was shown at international festivals and in 2001 was nominated for the “ Golden Bear ” at the Berlinale , among other things . Thereafter, Tsitos worked increasingly for German television and staged episodes of the crime series Tatort (2002–2010), KDD - Criminal Permanent Service (2007), Stolberg (2010) and Der Kriminalist (2011). Tsitos was involved in the Greek television series Amyna zonis (2008).
In 2009 he shot the feature film Little Miracles in Athens in Germany and Greece (original title: Akadimia Platonos, Greek Ακαδημία Πλάτωνος ), a co-production by ZDF and ARTE , with which he won the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the 62nd Locarno Film Festival . Main actor Antonis Kafetzopoulos received the prize for the best actor from the international jury, the youth jury of the festival awarded the film as the third best work.
For the film Adikos Kosmos , Tsitos received the Silver Shell for best director at the International Film Festival in San Sebastián ; Andonis Kafetzopoulos was named Best Male Lead Actor for his role in this film.
