action

The young Anne Kempf has a four-year-old son, whose care and upbringing she has to look after almost alone, as the child's father, 18-year-old Marc Sommer, shows little interest in his son. Marc's sister Kathrin keeps reproaching Anne for not taking care of the child properly. So again on the day on which she meets with the young woman in the park. A heated argument ensues between the two of them, which Anne ends by pushing Kathrin so that she falls down a small slope into a bush. Anne gets on her bike and drives home to her son. On the same evening, Kathrin Sommer is found dead by two young girls. Her head was hit against a stone. The commissioners Ivo Batic and Franz Leitmayr are called. It is the first case that you have to deal with without your colleague Carlo Menzinger, who received a high inheritance and retired from professional life and now lives in Thailand . The keys of the dead lead to the apartment of their widowed father, who identifies them as his daughter in the photo shown. When the commissioners talk to Anne's parents, whose apartment keys were also in Kathrin's possession, they learn that Kathrin often looked after Anne's son. At the age of 14, when she was still in school, she became pregnant by Kathrin's brother Marc. Nobody first noticed Anne's pregnancy until it was too late for an abortion. Actually no one wanted the child.

It looks like Kathrin has been pushed by someone, as she has a hematoma on her breastbone and one on her upper arm. When Batic Anne tells about Kathrin's death, she only says how one can injure oneself in the event of a shock and that she does not understand how one can be so stupid. She says nothing about the conversation between Kathrin and her. On Kathrin's cell phone you can find a text message from Marc: “Finally leave me alone !!!! I'm serious. ”When asked about this, Marc said that his sister was constantly interfering, checking around, she was always worried about Tim, what he was doing, where he was, whether he had already eaten. He was playing soccer last night, his boys had a game, and he earned his money with it. When the officers found out that Anne was still in contact with the young woman shortly before Kathrin's fall and asked why she hadn't said that, all she said was that she got up at 4 a.m., then delivered newspapers, then went to clean and then went to the office Supermarket works and then there is also her son Tim, so you can forget something.

When Hannes, a young colleague from the supermarket, asks Anne if she would like to have a drink with him in the evening, she is surprised, but then happily agrees. Mrs. Glück, who often takes care of Tim, then, to Anne's annoyance, says that she cannot look after the boy that evening, that Anne has to plan more foresight. When Tim causes trouble on the bus, the young mother is increasingly annoyed. When she gets out with the boy, he almost runs into a car. Anne goes with her son to the house of old Mrs. Blum, where she cleans. The old lady has been away for a week and Anne is supposed to take care of the potted plants. When Tim breaks a porcelain figure there, Anne locks him in a room. She leaves the house and meets her colleague Hannes for a carefree evening. Later she walks aimlessly through the city. She sees young people everywhere, kissing, cuddling, happy and seemingly carefree. She makes no move to go back to her son. When the street cleaning comes in the morning, she is sitting in front of a café that has not yet opened.

In the course of their investigations, the officers learn that Marc keeps a long distance from Anne in addition to his son. He had hardly any contact with his sister either. He is a good student and trains a youth team. Kathrin studied pedagogy and history to become a teacher. She constantly got involved in Tim's upbringing and just always knew everything better. In Marc's room, the officers noticed a poster referring to the concert by "Franz Friedrich". Marc, like the girls who found Kathrin, was at this concert, but only half an hour late. The young man applied to Stanford University in California and received a scholarship . Just as he is about to throw in his acceptance, he is surprised by Batic and Leitmayr. When he tries to run away, he loses his letter. He only drove past the place where Kathrin died, Anne was there. Kathrin found out with his scholarship and wanted him to cancel. She blamed him for not being able to run away like that. He did not say that he saw Anne there because he would have to take care of Tim if Anne were to go to jail. Batic remarks with astonishment: “They don't care about the death of their sister. The main thing is that Tim doesn't come to you? ”Marc says the scholarship is his only chance to get out of all this shit here.

The trapped Tim, who reacts increasingly frightened to his situation, sips water from the flower watering can. When he later tries to get a candy jar, the television falls down. Quite a while later, he had the idea of making contact with the outside world over the phone. He reports to the participant of the randomly dialed number that he wants to see his mom, she is gone. He was thirsty and all alone. When asked, he added that it was raining outside. Batic and Leitmayr, who are interviewing Anne in their apartment, hear the radio announcement with Tim's cry for help. Her desperate attempt to get the young mother to tell them where Tim is does not reach the young woman. She prays down everything that her son prevents her from doing. He's gone, just gone, then claims he was run over, and says a little later that if he's alone, he doesn't mind. Batic confronts Anne with Kathrin's body. She should take a close look at it, it was death from which there was no turning back. Leitmayr has now found out where in Munich it's raining. He finds Tim in old Frau Blum's house. The boy is sleeping. As he carries him outside in his arms, Batic appears with Anne, who still shows hardly any movement.

Reviews

“The murder and the perpetrator are certain from the start, and yet the spectator is completely under the spell of the case. This is mainly due to the fabulous main actors who completely surrender to parts of their lives, Janina Stopper as Anne Kempf, Max Mauff as Marc Sommer and Felix von Opel as Tim, as a pain in the ass and a bundle of energy that his mother cannot cope with. [...] An individual fate, symptomatic of the state of our society - a great 'Tatort' episode. "

- Kathrin Buchner : Stern.de

“A 'crime scene' without Whodunit tension, which nevertheless captivates with its race against time. The commissioners are pleasantly holding back. An exceptional 'crime' with exceptional talent Janina Stopper! "
