occupation

Starkbier is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The report, produced by Telepool and Bavaria Film for Bayerischer Rundfunk , was broadcast for the first time on March 7, 1999 in Das Erste as the 407th episode in the series. The Munich commissioners Batic and Leitmayr are investigating their 22nd case and have to solve a murder that disguised as an accident leads to the realm of a Munich brewery.

action

Dr. Maximilian Meindl, the marketing director of the Benedictus brewery, is found dead in his car on the Isar. The wife immediately doubts it was an accident, as her husband had been on the trail of irregularities within the brewery for some time. She suspects the General Manager Conrad Eisinger to have something to do with the death of her husband. He wants to sell the company and so there were significant differences between the two. The investigators are investigating the case in the vicinity of the brewery, because it was obvious that the accident was supposed to camouflage a murder. The forensic medical findings also speak for a brewery as the nearer death environment. However, no evidence can be found of General Manager Eisinger's perpetration. Batic and Leitmayr, on the other hand, establish connections between the employee Jiri Hasek, the head of administration Giesek and the beverage wholesaler Anton Irlbeck. Apparently someone tried to get Hasek out of the way when he fell on his bicycle. Meanwhile, Giesek is found in his bathtub with his wrists cut open.

Menzinger tries to get information from the beverage wholesaler Anton Irlbeck because he knows him well personally. He can also find out about the old fermentation tanks in the brewery from Braumeister Kiem, which are normally no longer used. He finds suspicious clues and has them investigated using a forensic technique. So it is certain that the victim has demonstrably died here. For Batic and Leitmayr, the suspicion initially falls on Jiri Hasek, because he was on duty that night. But Menzinger suspects his boss Kiem. He may be making money in his own pocket by brewing more beer than management knows. He sells the illegal portion through Irlbeck, but also has Giesek and Hasek on board. Thus, the illicit distillery is the motive for him. To prove his theory, he meets with Irlbeck alone in the brewery and wants to confront him. This sees himself transferred and overwhelmed Menzinger. He throws it into an empty brew kettle and wants to discharge carbon dioxide there. Since Hasek has observed this, he intervenes and prevents Irlbeck from killing Menzinger. Irlbeck is able to flee, so the investigators concentrate on Kiem and arrest him. During interrogation, he admits that he wanted to prevent Meindl from uncovering his black brewing business, and Meindl died in the process.

Menzinger is now able to prevent Irlbeck from fleeing abroad and arrest him.

In a parallel case, Batic and Leitmayr are in the process of convicting Josef Markovic, a Croatian drug dealer and contract killer. Leitmayr is shot in the arm during access with SEK use, but remains operational.

background

Some of the shooting for strong beer took place in original breweries. It was shot in the Paulaner Brauerei AG and the Löwenbräu AG.

The figure of Carlo Menzinger is so much in the foreground in this case that Menzinger's beer was chosen as the working title for the episode .

Reviews

At Moviesection.de, Thomas Ays awards four out of five possible stars and judges this remarkable, "if not consistently successful" Tatort "from Munich", which in places seems somewhat "constructed": "Screenwriter Michael Wogh is breaking new ground with" Starkbier " and leaves the field to the other setter, Carlo Menzinger. [...] who doesn’t get off badly here, as a viewer (though) you don’t trust him, and Wogh doesn’t look too closely at his investigations . [...] On the other hand, Ivo Batic (Miroslav Nemec) and Franz Leitmayr (Udo Wachtveitl) are as usual convincing and very, very entertainingly drawn and their prominent faces are credible. "

The critics of the television magazine TV-Spielfilm judge: “Good story with top-fermented local color”.
