action

The bank secretary Brigitte Bürki successfully escapes from the two Italian mafiosi Bruno Mighetti and Alberto Tognazzi to her parents' house on the Rüfinenalp, her friend, the dairyman Michael, implores her to stay calm. Her boss Kurt Jucker is meanwhile under pressure from an Italian bank customer, his superiors reassure him and refuse to pay the customer, even though he feels threatened. At home, Jucker learns from his wife Gianna that her dog has been poisoned, Gianna feels threatened and calls Gertsch, but the latter sees himself and his boss von Burg overtaxed by calls about alleged crimes due to the upcoming full moon and he cancels her call. The next day, Kurt Jucker calls Gertsch because he sees the Mafiosi in the parking lot of his bank, but Gertsch also gets rid of him. When Jucker sees the mafiosi threatening him again on the way home in the parking lot, he loses his nerve, pulls his gun and opens a shootout in which he is killed and Alberto Tognazzi is badly injured, Mighetti flees. Von Burg and Gertsch are called to the crime scene, and von Burg registers that Jucker was the man who had called them shortly before. Brigitte Bürki is extremely uncooperative towards von Burg, Gianna Jucker loses her composure and attacks Gertsch because he did not follow up on her warning. The seriously injured man has no papers with him, based on the objects he was carrying, von Burg and Gertsch conclude that it was the Italian professional killer Alberto Tognazzi. Before the officers can react, he is shot in the hospital by his accomplice, Mighetti.

The next day, Gertsch learned from his colleagues at the bank that Jucker's deputy, Roland Probst, had not worked at the bank for some time and was supposed to be on a yacht in the Caribbean, and since then Bürki has been acting like Jucker's new deputy. Von Burg orders police protection for Gianna Jucker, although he tells her not to leave the house, she goes to the marina to inquire about Probst's whereabouts, but without success. Gertsch has meanwhile determined the identity of Tognazzi and also that he and his accomplice wanted to have a customer talk with Jucker in the bank. Von Burg learns that Ms. Jucker has left the house on her own initiative and therefore has a tracking device installed under her car. Von Burg tries again to ask Bürki, again she shows herself dismissive, von Burg she asks about the Rüfinenalp, she claims that she has not been there for years, although von Burg discovered a corresponding vignette on her car. Gertsch has since found out that Mighetti and Tognazzi were there recently. From Burg and Gertsch, Gianna follow Jucker with the help of the tracking device to the boat yard at the marina, where she finds out that Probst's boat is still there. Immediately after her discovery, she is anesthetized by a shipyard employee with chloroform, the officers intervene, the employee says from that he should store the boat, Probst is dead and his world tour only pretended that he had received the order from Brigitte Bürki. Gianna admits to von Burg that she had a relationship with Probst, she has regularly received postcards from him since his sudden departure. Bürki is visited by Mighetti, who threatens to kill her because Probst and Jucker have cheated on her out of four million US dollars. Bürki makes it clear to him that he will never get the money if he kills her, her seriously ill mother, who is with her located in the house, dies from the excitement. The next day Bürki disappeared, von Burg and his colleagues, who found the dead mother, had a search for Bürki, on their computer the officers found evidence that Bürki had forged the postmarks for the cards of the supposedly world-traveling Probst. However, since the handwriting is genuine, Probst would still have to live in Switzerland. Bruno Mighetti forces Bürki to take him to Probst, she leads him to an alpine hut, on the way there with a cable car, Bürki Mighetti stumbles to his death. Her friend Senn Michael is waiting for her upstairs, this is Roland Probst, who has been working incognito at the Berghof since he disappeared. Probst leads Bürki into secret military catacombs in the mountain that were set up during the Second World War, where he hid the four million dollars. However, he surprisingly locks her in a locker because he accuses her of having almost spoiled his deal and withholding his forged passport. He tells her that she could "die there" and contacts Gianna, who is supposed to pick him up. After reviewing Bürki's documents, Burg and Gertsch have now come to the farm of Bürki's brother Senn Franz. While Gianna embraces her beloved Probst, who was believed dead, and the two want to leave despite the presence of the police, Senn Franz can hear his sister's calls and free Bürki. On the run from the police, Probst and Gianna also flee through the mountain catacombs, Bürki hears her ex-boyfriend and seeks revenge. There is a fight between Gianna and Bürki, Probst sneaks away with the money when von Burg arrives, Probst escapes from the catacombs and dies while fleeing in a raging mountain stream. The officers found that there were only bits of newspaper in his pocket instead of banknotes. While Gianna mourns for her lover, Bürki complains that Probst never loved her and only used her, Franz hides his sister in the mountains and shows her the booty that he had put aside for her and himself.
