action

The young Maya Dreher is mistreated by her father Herbert's sect "Organima" with the aim of brainwashing. She can no longer stand the so-called "treatment", especially from Cornelia Frank, and calls her friend and teacher Dr. Franz Merz, who takes them out. Franz is also a member of the "Organima", at Maya's request to resign, he reacts hesitantly because he has invested all of his money in the sect. When Maya asks if he is ready for her to kill Cornelia, he reacts hesitantly. Later, Franz meets with Cornelia and declares that he is leaving the sect, he also wants his money back, while Cornelia explains that through joint sect meetings she has his confession that he has a relationship with his pupil Maya and blackmails him, he is supposed to pay 100,000 Swiss francs for his exit. Franz tries to persuade Herbert Dreher to refrain from blackmailing, but he states that Cornelia is an indispensable employee and that he therefore lets her go. Franz gets a loan and lets Maya know that he has left the sect, later he meets with Cornelia to exchange the money for his confession, Maya's suspicious half-brother Benno Wagner photographs the two together.

The next morning, Cornelia is found dead on the banks of the Aare, Carlucci's successor, detective sergeant Philipp von Burg and his assistant Markus Gertsch, find out at the scene that she has drowned, but had previously been knocked unconscious with an angular object. Since the police are unable to determine the identity of the dead, a corresponding TV wanted man is broadcast, which Franz and Maya see. Maya is convinced that Franz killed Cornelia for her sake, but he doesn't want to hear about it, shortly afterwards Benno visits Franz and confronts him based on his observations. Franz denies the act to Benno and Maya, when shortly afterwards Herbert Dreher calls Franz, the two believe that Franz lied to them and is still a member of the sect and leave Franz's apartment. Dreher visits Franz the next day and confronts him with the fact that he had a motive for murder against Cornelia and offers him his «help», but Franz makes it clear to him that he no longer wants to have anything to do with the sect. Dreher reports to the police and reports that the dead man was an authorized signatory in his company. Benno also reports, reports on his observations on the evening of the crime and presents the photos of Burg and Gertsch. Meanwhile, unrest breaks out in the sect, the members suspect Franz, but Dreher appeases them. Von Burg seeks out Franz when he is trying in vain to get Maya to return to him. He admits that he knows Benno and Cornelia, that his meeting with Cornelia was purely by chance, that Cornelia had another date.

Meanwhile, Gusti Stettler and Gertsch find out that Cornelia has made larger payments into her account, they also find utensils of the sect that they cannot assign. Dreher is dismayed about the death of Cornelia, he states that Cornelia and Franz used to be a couple and that the separation was not for good, she made money through speculations on which he advised her. Meanwhile, Stettler sees the case as resolved, since DNA traces of Cornelia were found in Franz's car, but von Burg and Gertsch meet with an informant, the journalist Denise Brückner, who is a friend of Gertsch's journalist. Denise reports to the officials about the sect "Organima", which is actually behind Dreher's company, which works with brainwashing to erase painful memories of the members that are financially exploited. Von Burg visits Franz again and confronts him with the tracks in his car, who says that the chance meeting lasted a little longer and that he kept it from the police because he was afraid of being suspected that he had heard of the sect , however, he does not mention his own membership. Von Burg also talks to Benno's sister and Franz's pupil Maya, who claims to have been with her brother at the time of the crime, only in conversation does von Burg find out that Maya is Herbert Dreher's daughter, her brother's statement that Franz has seen Cornelia, she describes as her brother's madness.

The police searched Franz's apartment, where they also found the documents for the loan of 100,000 Swiss francs. The officials also find indications that Franz is in the «Organima», he admits to having been a member and recently resigned, he is silent about his relationship with Maya. Franz then drives with Maya to his holiday home, followed by members of the sect. For tactical reasons, von Burg was able to prevent Franz from being arrested. Von Burg suggests that Gertsch send Denise to the «Organima» as a prospective customer to find out more about the organization. Since the officials also found a check from Dreher for 50,000 francs in Franz's apartment, Dreher informs von Burg about the blackmailing of Cornelia, and Stettler then lets Franz write a search for him. Meanwhile, there is an argument between Franz and Maya in the holiday home, they suspect each other of the murder of Cornelia, Maya suggests that she can no longer trust her brother either. The next morning Maya is kidnapped by the sect, meanwhile Denise reports to the sect and discreetly peeks out the premises. During a further questioning of Dreher, von Burg secretly pocketed the Mayas keychain that Dreher had taken from his daughter, which was lying on the table, and thus penetrated the premises of the «Organima» without permission. The captured documents show that Cornelia was Franz's supervisor, and the confession with the relationship with Maya is noted in it.

Observed by von Burg, Franz is brought back to the sect by his colleague Bernadette Isler, and he follows them to the sect's property. Von Burg witnessed how Dreher exerted a confession from Franz in front of the sect members. When Dreher triumphantly hands Franz over to the officials, von Burg and Gertsch confront him with the fact that Dreher's fingerprints had been found on Maya’s keyring. Dreher had access to Franz’s apartment through May’s key and also put the check on his desk, around the To direct suspicion on Franz. The officials were able to see from the documents that Cornelia became too greedy and even blackmailed Dreher and the other sect members. Dreher wanted to get rid of them and at the same time get Franz out of the way as a lover of his daughter. During a search of his house, the officers were able to secure Cornelia's bag with extensive evidence. When Maya set fire to her father's horse stable shortly afterwards, he rushed into the stable in front of the officers to save his beloved horses and died in the process.
