action

Reinhard Meier chamber is after eleven years in prison from the prison fired after he was arrested only one of the four perpetrators and convicted. He moves back to his father's apartment. Since he is in a wheelchair, his neighbor Susanne Koron was often helpful. Reinhard, who has become even more closed in prison than he was before, rejects the young woman.

Two of Kammermeier's accomplices meet on a construction site and Cheesy explains to Rick that now that Kammermeier is free again, he wants a piece of the cake. Rick pretends to accept it and in a careless moment pushes him into the depths. When Batic and Leitmayr are called to the construction site, they look for clues that will clarify whether it was an accident, suicide or murder. There are some indications of third-party negligence, as there are traces of two people at the crash site. The shoe size 44 and the prints of a walking aid are noticeable .

Shortly thereafter, Oliver Reichel, another of Kammermeier's accomplices, is injured when he is shot by a stranger. When investigating the case, Leitmayr finds that he knows Oliver from the former squatters and anarchist scene in Munich. Meanwhile, accomplice Rick turns up at Kammermeier's to offer him money that he can certainly use now after his prison time. At the same time he informs him of the assassination attempt on Oliver. Kammermeier is at a loss as to why someone attacks Cheesy first and now Oliver. He looks around his neighbor Susanne's apartment and not only notices newspaper articles about the attack and the current murder of Cheesy on her pin board, but also an old photo of a demonstration from 1981. She marked various faces on it - including his. He also finds a photo of the security guard who was shot. Meanwhile, Batic and Leitmayr appear at Kammermeier's father. He portrays his son as the dreamer he has always been. When they see his son's size 42 shoes in the hallway, they can rule out Chamberlain as a murderer from Cheesy.

The investigators question Moshammer about the events of the old robbery. But even years later, he can no longer remember the perpetrators. The investigators look at old television recordings of the demonstrations and squatting and recognize, among others, Oliver Reichel and Richard Heiger, who is noticeably limping.

Susanne Koron had left a small recording device switched on in Kammermeier's apartment, on which she found a conversation between Rick and Reinhardt recorded. It shows that Rick admits he shot the security guard. Immediately she goes to Rick and explains to him that she knows that it was him who shot her father. Suddenly she fires several shots at him and kills him. Then she goes to see Reinhardt, who spent the last night in one of the houses that they occupied in the 80s and that is still empty. When Susanne stands in front of him, he tells her: “I saw the photos. You will kill us all. ”But her thirst for revenge has been quenched and so she spends the night with Reinhardt.

When Batic and Leitmayr arrive at the new crime scene, they discover that the caliber used matches that of the assassination attempt on Oliver Reichel. She is astonished why the group members, now that Kammermeier has been released, seem to all kill each other. Kammermeier may now demand his share of the stolen goods. The investigators find Heiger's walking aid and assume that it was he who was there when Steininger fell. Batic has a search for Kammermeier because he is the main suspect for him. This is also quickly found and arrested. During the interrogation, he claims to have spent the night with Susanne Koron. Since she confirms his alibi, he has to be released.

Batic and Leitmayr find out that Susanne Koron is the daughter of the shot guard. So they conclude that there is a personal vengeance campaign that may not have ended yet. While trying to protect Kammermeier from Koron, Koron himself is shot because he is protecting his new girlfriend with a gun. Injured, he is taken to the hospital and Susanne Koron is arrested.

background

In Heart Ice Age , Rio Reiser, the ex-frontman of the band Ton Steine Scherben , plays the leading role and also composed the film music and the song Dreams away . In view of his political commitment, he was considered the ideal cast for the character of the Chamberlain and was offered the role personally by the director Hans Noever, because in the 1970s Reiser's song "Macht kaputt, was dich kaputt" had already become an anthem in the squatters' scene . The fashion designer Rudolph Moshammer plays himself in a guest appearance.

reception

criticism

On the Internet site Moviesection.de, Thomas Ays judges the crime scene negatively: “At times you are stunned how amateurish" In the Heart of the Ice Age "was staged. [...] The music is to run away and penetrative, the staging, especially at the end And by Franz Leitmayr a real excitement and the actors "achievements", which can only be described as talentless, especially with Rio Reiser, were probably not recognized by Noever. Instead, they opted for a brief appearance by Rudolf Moshammer, the cast of Reiser and Gunda Ebert, who understand nothing about believable play in this “crime scene”. […] The many mistakes that have been made here and the amateurish form of staging cannot be accepted under any circumstances . "
