history

The Cesar Godeffroy was built at the Johann Marbs shipyard in Hamburg-St. Pauli and was launched in 1873. The owner was the trading house Joh. Ces. Godeffroy & Son. The ship was named after the Hamburg merchant Johan Cesar Godeffroy , who ran the company.

The barque transported emigrants to Australia and served the import-export business of Joh. Ces. Godeffroy & Son in the South Pacific.

On November 25, 1880, the Cesar Godeffroy stranded near Juist.
