Fimbulvet is a pagan metal band founded as a solo project that mixes their musical style with elements of folk metal .

history

Fimbulvet was founded in autumn 2003 by Stephan Gauger as a solo project. In November of the same year, Diana Mathesie ( keyboard ), another musician, joined the band project. Marco Volborth ( bass ) joined the duo in February , before Christian Hopf ( guitar ) completed the group. At first the band rehearsed in the apartment of the project founder.

In July 2004 the band got a real rehearsal room. In October the recordings began on their demo CD Gjallarhorn , which was recorded in the Powertrack Studio (including Odroerir and Menhir ). This CD was released that same year.

In January 2005 the band played their first concert, which took place in Bad Salzungen . Due to musical differences with the band, Christian Hopf left them. Diana Mathesie also left the band, but because of a degree . Shortly after it was announced that the two musicians would be leaving the band, Felix Zimmermann, a drummer, joined the band. After a few complications, the band was eventually continued as a trio.

The band began recording their debut album Ewiger Winter in late 2005 . This was released in 2006 as an in-house production. At a concert in Ilmenau the band was supported by a guitarist from the Heldgard group. In July they played at the Riedfest in Rohr . The band made their first appearance outside of Thuringia at the Welcome Goodbye Summer Open Air Festival (WGSOAF) in the Ore Mountains / Saxony . Drummer Zimmermann also had to leave the band due to a degree. In October, Danny Rubner, a former drummer for the band Sinwist, joined the group as a new musician. In February 2007 they played on the Metalnight in Schmalkalden . Rubner also left the band quickly - again due to a degree.

In April 2007 Falko Knoll, the former singer of the death metal band Sepulcrum , took over the drums for the band. In January 2008 they produced the second album with Der Ruf in golden halls , which was limited to 1000 copies. The group was supported by Odroerir singer Nathalie Nebel during the recording . This was received extremely positively by Rock Hard . For the rest of the year Fimbulvet toured with Varg and Kromlek . In 2009 the band played with Turisas . After a long search, a second guitarist was found in Christian Fröhlich. The band was temporarily under contract with Eichenthron before switching to Nocturnal Empires. In June 2009 they were working on their third album, which was to become a concept album and contain 5 songs. Here, too, the band was supported by guest musicians. These were Heiko Gerull (Menhir), Stickel (Odroerir) and Ricardo Wilk. The album is called Kriegerwahn and is available in the UK . In October 2011 the fourth album Frostbrand - Nach Flammen Sehnsucht was released .
