Fingernails is an Italian heavy and thrash metal band from Rome that was founded in 1981, disbanded in 1990 and reunited in 2005.

history

The band was founded in September 1981 by guitarist Maurizio "Angus" Bidoli. A short time later, bassist Marco “Bomber” Santoni and drummer Ricki “Duracell” Lipparini joined them. The band developed their own songs and released some demos in the following years. Her self-titled debut album was released in 1988 via Cobra Records , which was sold in Germany , Belgium and Italy. In 1990 the band broke up. Then the members devoted themselves to other projects. In 1996 Lipparini died in a car accident.

In 2005 the band got together again, with the drummer Fabrizio Lucidi and singer Anthony Drago now also represented in addition to Bidoli and Santoni. The compilation Fingernails / Hell n 'Back was released in 2006 by Old Metal Records . The phonogram was produced by Deceased singer King Fowley . Then bassist Santoni left the band and was replaced by Ricchard. Then the band took on the album Destroy Western World , which was again produced by Fowley. The album was released in the US in 2007 on Old Metal Records. In 2008, Nuclear War Now! Productions released a split release featuring Fingernails and the band Villains . In December of the same year, a compilation called Heavy Metal Forces was released , on which previously unreleased material from the 1980s could be heard. The phonogram was released by High Roller Records . In August 2009, drummer Lucidi left the band and was replaced by Carlo Usai. In 2010 there followed appearances in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands and the recordings for the new album Alles Verboten took place. The album was released on High Roller Records in 2012.

The band plays a version of metal that is often compared to the works of Motörhead .
