The Finniss River is a river in the Australian state of South Australia .

It rises near Yundi on the eastern slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges . From there it flows to the east and flows into an arm of the Goolwa Channel at Finniss , part of Lake Alexandrina and the Murray River .

The Finniss River was explored by gold digger and explorer Frederick Henry Litchfield on behalf of Boyle Finniss , the first Prime Minister of South Australia .
