Fire OS , a product of the company Amazon , is known as Android - derivative both an operating system and a software platform for Amazon sold under its own brand hardware. Fire OS is found in the following types or models:

In contrast to the basic AOSP, the open source variant of Android, Fire OS is not open source. Amazon only publishes source code that Amazon is obliged to publish through open source licenses (e.g. the GPL- licensed Linux kernel).

Differences from Android

Fire OS does not support Google's applications and services ex works , but those from Amazon. Run on Fire OS

  • Fire OS 4 Sangria (based on Android 4.4 "KitKat")
  • Fire OS 5 Bellini (based on Android 5.1 "Lollipop")
  • Fire OS 6 (based on Android 7.1.2 "Nougat")
  • Fire OS 7 (based on Android 9 "Pie")

The 5th, 6th and 7th generation Fire Tablets use Fire OS 5.6.4.0 as the operating system. The 1st and 2nd generation Fire TV devices run on the operating system version 5.2.7.2. The 3rd generation Fire TV and Fire TV Stick 4K use Fire OS 6.2.6.8.
