Fire OS , a product of the company Amazon , is known as Android - derivative both an operating system and a software platform for Amazon sold under its own brand hardware. Fire OS is found in the following types or models:

- the Fire Tablets
- the Fire TV devices

In contrast to the basic AOSP, the open source variant of Android, Fire OS is not open source. Amazon only publishes source code that Amazon is obliged to publish through open source licenses (e.g. the GPL- licensed Linux kernel).
Differences from Android
Fire OS does not support Google's applications and services ex works , but those from Amazon. Run on Fire OS
- Web browser : Amazon Silk instead of Google Chrome .

However, the apps use proprietary Google Play services (not on Fire OS available), the range of functions may be limited (e.g. missing push notifications or the app does not work at all).
- Cloud Computing : Amazon Cloud Player and Amazon Cloud Drive instead of Google Drive .
- Email client: own email app instead of Gmail .
- Voice assistant : Fire OS devices use the Alexa voice assistant developed by Amazon . This is comparable to the Google Assistant or Siri from Apple.
