Fireball ( Thai : ท้า ชน ) is a Thai feature film with martial arts elements from director Thanakorn Pongsuwan from 2009.

action

Thailand in the present. Convict Tai gains a right to early release through donations from his twin brother Tan, which is eventually granted to him. The former prisoner then visits his selfless rescuer. He found him with severe head injuries in a comatose state - cared for by his friend Pang. The whimpering beauty is devastated. She fears that her lover might be involved in illegal activities, as the passionate basketball player has suffered more and more wounds recently. Tai decides to investigate. In a seedy area he soon meets a group of athletes who mistake him for his bedridden twin brother. They are all part of a fireball team, an illegal basketball-based martial arts sport . Tai plays with his ambiguous identity, follows in Tan's footsteps and eventually joins chief strategist Den's team.

He covertly managed to get unusual insights into the underground scene. He also learns that Tan was an active fireball player who was injured by an opponent named Ton in the middle of a game. Since he cannot be held accountable at first, the rules forbid an argument outside the field of play, the main actor initially concentrates on the matches in the tournament.

The actual competition is hardly regulated; All forms of violence are permitted, as is the restricted use of weapons. Lucrative bets also exacerbate the outcome of a given game. These factors make Fireball a relentless sport that even approves of the dead or deliberately provokes them. This scenario is already revealed in the second round. Den's team is robbed of a teammate who is murdered from behind. As the squad continues to thin out, there are inevitable internal quarrels that are short-lived. The material and financial hardships force the three remaining players to resume the tournament. For example, Tai needs money to finance an expensive operation for his terminally ill brother.

In a final game, Den's decimated team competes against a selection of the defending champions to Ton Tai's archenemy. The actual game becomes a minor matter. Den's team succeeds in putting down the opposition in exhausting fights - including clay. When, at the end of the film, seriously injured and exhausted, Tai sinks to the ground and dies on the field, his twin brother Tan wakes up from his deep sleep as if by magic.
