Firlot

The Firlot was a Scottish measure of measure, with a beer measure and a grain measure being distinguished.

The grain size was divided into

  • 1 Firlot = 4 packs = 16 lipies
  • 4 firlot = 1 boll and 16 boll = 1 chaldron

According to the wheat firlot, the following were calculated: wheat , rye , peas , beans , salt and grains of feed .

  • Wheat : 1 Firlot = 1817 Parisian cubic inches = 36 liters

According to the barley firlot, the following were calculated: barley , malt , oats , fruits and potatoes .

  • Barley : 1 firlot = 2651 Parisian cubic inches = 52 ½ liters

For comparison: 124 Firlot wheat corresponded to 85 Firlot barley.

To convert from the firlot to the new bushel , the

  • 111 Firlot wheat equals 100 bushels.

At barley they sat

  • 209 firlot equals 297 bushels.

For comparison: with the old dimensions

  • 1 bushel = 1 1/110 wheat firlot = 11/16 barley firlot
