First Signs of Frost is an English progressive metal band from London , which was founded in 2004.

history

The roots of the band go back to the founding of the band Skud at the turn of the millennium, which was renamed Subject to Change in 2003. After their guitarist Ben Ashton and bassist Ian Rees left the band and were replaced by Adam Mason and Dan Oehlman, the band was renamed First Signs of Frost. After the band recorded a three-song demo in 2004 and played a few concerts, the band released their debut EP that same year , called In Our Final Chapter , produced by guitarist John Mitchell , who already worked with bands like Funeral for a Friend , Kids in Glass Houses and Architects . In 2005, the bassist Dan Oehlman left the band a year later and was replaced by Simon Poulton. In addition, the song In Our Final Chapter appeared on the very first release of the British label Basick Records in the form of a compilation called Do You Feel This? . The band then went on tour through Great Britain in October , where they appeared alongside Enter Shikari .

In 2007 the band released their second EP, The Lost Cause, on the Japanese record label Zestone Records , which was followed by a tour of the United Kingdom with the band Exit Ten between May and June . After the singer Daniel Tompkins joined the band a year later, the band released a split EP with The Casino Brawl and Elias Last Day , which was released on the British label Small Town Records and on which the songs Through the Exterior and Sing Sing Aint My style were heard. The band then played a joint UK tour with Deaf Havana in November . After the band had finished recording their first album in the studio, the band announced that Daniel Tompkins had decided to leave the band, as he subsequently joined the band TesseracT and wanted to devote more time to his piano project. In November 2009, with Atlantic , the debut album of the band, as the EP previously published on Zestone Records, which was produced by Acle Kahney, founder of the band TesseracT which previously the song Through the exterior had produced for the band. In addition to nine new songs, the album also contained three more songs from the EP released two years earlier, which were re-recorded.
