Fischy Music is a British music group that became known in Germany primarily for its numerous appearances at the Evangelical Church Days in 2005 and 2007.

In the UK, the group has a key role in the children's program of the national grassroots festival, Green Belt Movement .

The group takes its name from its founder Stephen Fischbacher, whose ancestors emigrated from Switzerland to Great Britain three generations ago.

history

Fischy Music was founded in Edinburgh in 1998 by Stephen Fischbacher , who started the band on the basis of his experience in youth work and was supported by the church. The main target group are primarily school children. Topics are bullying and other problems that also affect young people. The movements to the songs are based on British Sign Language .

target group

Stephen Fischbacher mainly composes his songs for children between the ages of 7 and 11. In this context, the group offers music workshops in schools, each of which has a special topic that is discussed with the teachers beforehand.

Born in Glasgow, Stephen Fischbacher is the group's singer, composer and music director. He worked in various professions (e.g. theater) before moving to Canada and studying at Bible College in Saskatchewan . He started writing nursery rhymes in the 1990s when his children were born, being influenced by the Irish band U2 .

Suzanne Adam

Suzanne Adam is the band's singer, musician and advertising manager. She was born in Edinburgh in 1978 . She gave up her original career aspiration, veterinary medicine, in favor of music and joined Fischy Music in 2001 as a singer and violinist. She is also active for the Canongate Cadjers Ceilidh Band and her own duo Fair Witness.

Naomi Barton

Naomi Barton was born in Inverurie , near Aberdeen, and moved to Hawick , where she met Stephen Fischbacher. She taught at an Edinburgh elementary school for a few years before she gave up teaching for the benefit of her family.

Louise Holden

Louise Holden works with sign language and works as a sign language interpreter for the deaf. She has been with Fischy Music since 2004.

Jed Milroy

The musician Jed Milroy is from Manchester , but grew up in Edinburgh. He started playing music at the age of 1 and was influenced by Oasis and Simon and Garfunkel .

Ken Wylie

Ken Wylie lives in London, where he works as an office worker. In his free time he works as a pantomime.

Sandy Butler

The guitarist Sandy Butler was born in Bristol in 1986 and studies sound production at a college.

Tracey Francis

Tracey Francis took over the management of Fischy Music in 2002.

Anne Dodds

Anne Dodds grew up in Edinburgh, where she also spent most of her life. Professionally, she develops project management for large insurance companies.
