Wayne Richard Presley (born March 23, 1965 in Dearborn , Michigan ) is a former American ice hockey player who played 767 games for the Chicago Blackhawks , San Jose Sharks , Buffalo Sabers , New York between 1982 and 1998 Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League on the position of right winger .
Career
Presley initially played three years from 1982 to 1985 for the Kitchener Rangers and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League . In 1984 he reached the final tournament for the Memorial Cup with Kitchener and the following year with Sault Ste. Marie. Already during the 1984/85 season , the Chicago Blackhawks used him in the National Hockey League after they had selected him in the second round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft in 39th position.
In the years that followed, the winger became an integral part of the Blackhawks squad. There he had in the season 1986/87 also his best NHL season with 61 points in 80 games. In September 1991 Chicago transferred him to the San Jose Sharks for a draft pick in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft , where he only stayed until March 1992. For Dave Snuggerud he was given to the Buffalo Sabers . Presley stayed in Buffalo for the remainder of the 1991/92 season and three more, but signed as a free agent with the New York Rangers in the summer of 1995 . Like in San Jose, he only stayed there for about nine months and went to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Sergio Momesso . After the end of the 1995/96 season , Presley played the following two seasons only in the International Hockey League and American Hockey League , where he let his career end with the farm teams of the Maple Leafs.
