Fyodor Dmitriev ( Russian Фёдор Михайлович Дмитриев * October 28 . Jul / 9. November  1829 greg. In Moscow , † January 25 . Jul / 6. February  1894 . Greg ) was a Russian lawyer and university lecturer .

Life

Dmitriev was a son of the poet and literary critic Mikhail Alexandrovich Dmitriev from his second marriage and received his first home education. In 1846 he began studying at the Law Faculty of Moscow University , graduating in 1850 as a candidate for law .

From 1857 he went to the Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna as secretary, with her support, to pursue his scientific studies abroad. This resulted in his important master's thesis on the history of Russian law, which he successfully defended in 1859 and for which he received the Demidow Prize in 1860 .

In 1859 Dmitriev became an associate professor at the Chair of Constitutional Law of the European States at Moscow University. In 1866 he changed to the chair for old and new foreign legislative procedures . He became known for his excellent lectures, and BN Chicherin held him in high regard . He worked with the Russki Westnik and the Moskowskije Vedomosti . In the Novoye Vremja he discussed reforms of the administration of justice , the censorship system and the universities .

In 1866 Dmitriev took an active part in the so-called professors' uprising together with BN Chicherin, MN Kapustin , SM Solovyov , SA Ratschinsky and other liberal professors of the Moscow University against the re-election of the dean of the Faculty of Law VN Leschkov and the interference of the Ministry of Popular Education in this university matter . As a result of this conflict and his eye problems, he received his farewell in June 1868.

Dmitrijew settled on the family seat in Ujesd Sysran and was spokesman, honorary peace judge and aristocratic leader of the Ujesd. He was the curator of the St. Petersburg Science District (1881-1884) and senator (from 1884).
