The Flachstreifige carrion beetles ( Silpha obscura ) is a beetle from the family of carrion beetles (Silphidae).
features
The beetles are 13 to 17 millimeters long and have a flat build. Her body is dull black in color. The upper wings have three distinct longitudinal ribs, of which the inner ones are somewhat less pronounced than the outer ones. The spaces are evenly structured with dots. The wings have corners on the shoulder. The pronotum is smooth and flattened at the front and only slightly outlined when viewed from above. The eighth antenna segment is bell-shaped and no longer than the ninth. The fifth link is elongated and the sixth is rounded.

Similar species
- Black snail hunter ( Phosphuga atrata ) and several species of the genus Silpha , including Silpha tristis and Silpha carinata .
Occurrence
The animals occur in Europe and Asia , east to Mongolia except in the far north and in the high mountains. The species is widespread and occurs most frequently in relation to the genus Silpha .
Way of life
Like most carrion beetles, the flat-striped carrion beetles live on carrion, but they sometimes also feed predatory.
