Milena Michiko Flašar (* 1980 in St. Pölten ) is a bicultural Japanese - Austrian writer .

Life

Milena Michiko Flašar studied comparative literature , German and Romance languages in Vienna and Berlin . She is the daughter of a Japanese mother and an Austrian father and lives as a writer in Vienna. She also teaches German as a foreign language in Vienna.

In June 2012 she had a scholarship and an apartment at the Literary Colloquium Berlin .

In November 2012 she received the Austrian Alpha Literature Prize for her book I called him a tie . The text was premiered in May 2013 at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin in a stage adaptation and production by Jana Milena Polasek . In 2014 the NDR produced a radio play adaptation. In April 2015 the novel was awarded the Euregio Student Literature Prize. This prize introduces German, Dutch and Belgian schoolchildren between the ages of 15 and 20 to the contemporary literature of their country and that of neighboring countries and encourages foreign language exchange.

Flašar is married and has one son.
