Flashflood - When the dam breaks (Alternative title: The Great Flood: When the World Sinks , Original Title: Killer Flood: The Day the Dam Broke ) is an American disaster film from 2003 , which was produced for television. The leading roles are played by Joe Lando and Bruce Boxleitner .

action

An accident occurs at a dam in the northern United States in which an employee dies. An investigation is ordered by the building supervisory authority. The architect David Powell, who designed the dam, discovers that the builder Jordon Walker has messed around with the dam out of greed for profit. He also notes that the dam will soon burst as soon as the dam's water level reaches the maximum limit of 300 meters due to unforeseen snowmelt and heavy rains. Powell decides to do everything possible to postpone the break so that his wife, the deputy mayor of Rutland, can evacuate the people of the town near the dam in time for the impending flood. The time for the evacuation is getting scarcer and the damage to the dam is increasing. Meanwhile, Walker does everything possible to prevent his criminal activities from being exposed.

reception

The Filmdienst place Flash Flood was a "less well informed parent disaster movie with untimely effects of a weak story and little convincing actors." On the other hand, the FULLTVGuide finds that the film is good, that it fulfills its purpose in an entertaining way and that this story is interesting.
