It is native to the western Atlantic and is found there mainly on the coasts of Bermuda , Bahamas , South Florida , Belize , Panama , Curaçao , Bonaire , Los Roques , Suriname and the coasts of the Caribbean arches from Cuba to Trinidad .
The spotted lobster is one of the shallow water species among the lobsters. It lives in reefs and rocky areas, where it hides during the day and searches for food at night.
It is caught throughout its range and mostly sold in local markets.
