Type FW 2100

The series cargo ship design Flender FW 2000 for short also Flender 2000 from the Flender shipyard is a type of container ship with a capacity of around 2000  TEU . The Flender FW 2100 variant has a slightly higher container capacity. Due to their original names of the commissioning shipping company Claus-Peter Offen , which all began with the word "Santa" followed by a second word beginning with the letter "G" or "F", the units are also called Santa-G ships or ships . Santa F-ships called.

history

The Flender shipyard developed the two types as part of the "High-Economic-Container-Vessel" program of standardized container ship types from 1100 to 2500 TEU that are related to each other in terms of shipbuilding.

The units are designed as container ships with a deckhouse far aft . The series was produced from 1995 to 1999. employed the ships of the shipping company open to be used primarily as charter vessels in the global liner shipping - often in services in regions with poorly-developed port infrastructure, as found, for example a relatively large number of ships on South America services. The individual ships are tailored to their respective use with cranes and other special features.

The container capacity of the Santa G ships is 2061 TEU, of which 150 TEU refrigerated containers can be carried. The Santa F ships have 2169 TEU and 420 TEU refrigerated containers. The ships have five cargo holds closed with pontoon hatch covers , all of which are in front of the superstructures and deck space with two (Santa G ships) or three (Santa F ships) 20-foot bays behind. The ships have a total of three ship cranes arranged amidships in front of the deckhouse and a fourth crane attached to the aft edge of the superstructure. The two middle cranes have a lifting capacity of 40 tons, the front crane 25 tons and the rear crane over 10 tons. The variant FW 2100 (Santa F ships) has a container capacity of 100 TEU greater due to a slightly higher permissible draft and a higher number of container spaces on deck. Based on the FW 2000 type, the shipyard developed the design for the Cap class for the Hamburg-Süd shipping company .

The propulsion of the ships consists of a two-stroke diesel engine of the type 6S60MC with an output of 12,240  kW built by the diesel engine factory Vulkan Werk Rostock (DMR) under MAN B&W license . In some of the ships, the engine acts via a gearbox on a variable-pitch propeller, in the other part directly on a fixed propeller and in the Santa-G ships also on a shaft generator and enables a speed of around 20  knots . Furthermore, two auxiliary diesels and an emergency diesel generator are available on the Santa G ships (three on the Santa F ships) . The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
