Cari Elise Fletcher (born March 19, 1994 in Asbury Park , New Jersey ) is an American singer and songwriter.

Life

Fletcher attended Wall High School near Wall Township, New Jersey. Meanwhile, she applied to the first season of X Factor , in which the band Lakoda Rayne formed. They released the single Emergency Break on September 18, 2012 . After two members left, Fletcher finally announced on June 6, 2014 that the band had finally broken up on good terms and that they wanted to concentrate on their solo career. At the same time, she decided to study at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University (NYU), where she graduated in 2016.

Fletcher is part of the LGBTQ + community, which she also addresses in her songs, and has been in a relationship with photographer and YouTuber Shannon Beveridge since the end of 2016. The two also appeared as a couple in their music video for Wasted Youth in 2017 . Fletcher actively supports organizations like GLAAD .

Career

Her debut single War Paint was released in June 2015. She has been under contract with Capitol Records since August 2018 .

Fletcher's breakthrough came with her single Undrunk , released in January 2019 . It entered the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time and was number 1 on the US viral charts on Spotify . Her first album Finding Fletcher was released without a label. The second album, You Ruined New York for Me , was released in August 2019. The album was produced by Malay, who previously worked with Sam Smith , Lorde , James Morrison , John Mayer and Zayn . She went on tour with every album. Her European tour will start in Berlin in March 2020. L Devine accompanies them as a support act. Niall Horan announced that Fletcher will be the opening act on his Nice to Meet Ya tour in Fall 2020.
