Flexity Link is a low-floor - tram -Gelenkwagentyp of Bombardier Transportation . It is a so-called tram train , i.e. a tram that can run on both urban tram routes and regional railways . Provided the appropriate infrastructure is available, this enables the region to be optimally connected to the inner cities. In this particular market segment, the Flexity Link is the only type from Bombardier.
There are currently 28 Flexity Link railcars in service with Saarbahn in the greater Saarbrücken area . Its maximum speed is 100 km / h, but operationally only 90 km / h are permitted, the maximum slope that can be driven on is 80 ‰. 96 seats and 147 standing places are available per car; one car is 37 m long.
From 2001 to 2005, six railcars (cars 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1011 and 1013) were loaned out for the RegioTram Kassel preliminary service to Kassel. From December 2009 to December 2013, three railcars (1018, 1024, 1028) of the Flexity Link were also used on the S9 line of the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn . These vehicles were loaned from the Saarbahn.
The Flexity Link is summarized by Bombardier with the Flexity Swift under the term Flexity Light Rail or Flexity Stadtbahnen.
