The airbase Mackfitz was an air base of the Air Force of the Armed Forces near the village Makowice / Mackfitz at Plathe in the former province of Pomerania . Today's airfield , Lotnisko Makowice , is about halfway between Gryfice / Greifenberg and Nowogard / Naugard in northwest Poland .

history

German time

The air base was rebuilt as a field airfield between 1937 and 1938 and then expanded to the port of operations I. The runway was grassy.

In the south of the air base there was a large aircraft hangar and other functional buildings. The I./ZG 1 was the first airborne unit to be stationed here from August 1939 . With her Messerschmitt Me 110C she took part in the attack on Poland from here . From 1940 to 1945 various pilots' schools and an airborne rifle school were also housed here.

Polish time

In March 1945, Soviet troops occupied the area of ​​the air base. In 1945 Mackfitz was renamed Makowice and is a district of Płoty in the Polish Koszalin Voivodeship, since 1999 West Pomeranian Voivodeship .
