Florence Cestac (born July 18, 1949 in Pont-Audemer ) is a French draftsman who became known for her humorous comics.

Career

She attended art schools in Paris and Rouen before founding the bookstore Futuropolis with her partner Étienne Robial in 1972 , from which the publishing house of the same name emerged two years later. Cestac's cartoon character Harry Mickson became the mascot of the publisher, which mainly published black and white comics and placed particular emphasis on typography and layout.

From 1976 she published regularly in L'Écho des Savanes , Charlie Mensuel , Pilote and other magazines. From 1989 she worked on illustrations for children's books and also drew comics, mostly for young readers. The Dargaud publishing house compiled their work for adult readers in the album Cestac pour les Grands .

Awards

The album Les vieux copains pleins de pépins was awarded the Alph'Art Humor at the International Comics Festival in Angoulême in 1989, the same award went to Le Démon de Midi in 1997 . In 2000 Florence Cestac received the Grand Prix de la Ville d'Angoulême .

reception

Le Démon de Midi was used in 1998 by Michéle Bernier and Marie Pascale Osterrieth as a template for a play that was played in German translation under the title Men and Other Errors .
