Florence Meyer
Florence Meyer (born January 22, 1911 , † November 27, 1962 ) was an American photographer, actress and dancer.
Life
Florence Meyer was the eldest daughter of the couple Agnes and Eugene Meyer . She completed her schooling in Bryn Mawr and Radcliffe and first appeared on stage at the age of 16. At that time she played an angel in Jedermann in Salzburg , where she was trained in dancing with Harald Kreutzberg . In 1937 she was seen in the Reinhardt production of The Eternal Road ; however, she became better known as a photographer than an actress and a dancer. She created numerous portraits of well-known personalities. Many of Meyer's paintings are now in the Agnes and Eugene Meyer Collection in the Library of Congress, Washington. Florence Meyer made the well-known picture that shows Thomas Mann with his grandchildren Frido and Toni in 1948 . Florence Meyer also captured Man Ray's double wedding with Juliet Browner and Max Ernst with Dorothea Tanning .
Florence Meyer lived with her husband Oskar Homolka in Bel Air and in Pacific Palisades . His marriage to Homolka, which was concluded in 1939 and divorced seven years later, resulted in two sons.
