Florian Leis-Bendorff
Florian Leis-Bendorff (born October 22, 1969 in Hamburg ; † October 4, 2005 in the Harburg district ) was a German musician. He celebrated his greatest success as a guitarist with the Austrian alpine rock band Schürzenjäger .
Life
Leis-Bendorff comes from a family of musicians. He was born the son of a bassist in the James Last Orchestra. His paternal grandmother was the pianist and chansonnière Lya Bendorff , his maternal grandmother the composer Felicitas Kukuck . He started playing the piano and guitar at the age of nine . The first recordings were made when he was 14 years old in his brother Christoph's studio.
After high school and civil service , Leis-Bendorff studied popular music at the University of Music and Performing Arts, today the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg . He also played in various bands and worked as a sound engineer for the Hamburg studio. As a long-time member of the Blankenese Chamber Choir, he participated in the world premieres of several works by Felicitas Kukuck , including the opera Der Mann Mose (1986), the cantata De Profundis (1989) and the requiem And it was: Hiroshima. A collage about the beginning and the end of creation (1995).
Through his brother's mediation, Leis-Bendorff came into contact with the Austrian band Schürzenjäger in 1992 . For the first time he supported the Schürzenjäger in the production of the song Every Heartbeat Worthwhile . Since the band tour in 1996, Leis-Bendorff has been regularly involved in productions and performances by the Schürzenjäger, initially as a guest musician, and since 2001 as a real member of the band. The band members, especially the singer Peter Steinlechner, praised his musicality and commitment.
On October 4, 2005 , Leis-Bendorff hanged himself at the age of 35 in his apartment in the Harburg district . No suicide note was found.
