Florian Pötz (born February 11, 1991 in Fürstenfeld ) is an Austrian chess player .

Life

Florian Pötz learned to play chess at the age of ten. Since October 2011 he has been studying technical mathematics at the Graz University of Technology .

successes

In 2007 he won the Austrian U16 state championship in Bad Ischl . Since October 2011 he has been the youngest Austrian at the time to hold the title of International Master . He achieved the standards for this in all Austrian leagues in the 2010/11 season, namely the Lower Austria Regional League, the Austrian 2nd Bundesliga East and the Styrian Regional League. At the Chess Festival Graz 2011 he achieved another IM norm, which he no longer needed for the title.

He played club chess in Austria until the 2003/04 season for TSV Hartberg , since then for SK Fürstenfeld , with whom he played in the first division in the 2005/06 , 2009/10 and 2011 to 2013 seasons. When SK Furstenfeld he is also secretary. Since 2014, SK Fürstenfeld and TSV Hartberg have formed a game community for which Pötz competes, including in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2019/20 season. In Hungary he played for Alsószölnöki STE .

Its Elo rating is 2422 (as of March 2020), its highest to date was 2431 in December 2013 and April 2014.
